After six-years pause, the Moldovan Government has re-launched negotiations with the Russian Federation on the signing of an Agreement on labor migration. In this regard, a delegation of representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family of the Republic of Moldova, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations (BDR) participated in a new round of consultations, held in Moscow on 2-3 November.
The draft Agreement on cooperation in labor migration has been developed to enhance and strengthen cooperation between the two countries. The document provides the regulation of labor migration and protection of Moldovan citizens working in the Russian Federation and prevention of illegal migration as well.
During the talks, the parties agreed on the draft concept, but reiterated the need to adjust the amendments of the Agreement to the national legislation and to the institutional framework in the field of labor migration in both countries, which will be discussed in the following round of negotiations.
